Phoebe Rose Rocks Foundation

Phoebe Rose Rocks is now part of Kindred Foundation!

After 7 years as a foundation and 6 years as a registered charity, we have made the decision to integrate with Kindred Foundation. We have worked closely with Kindred Foundation for the past few years and have partnered with them on the U-link Patient and Family Fund and the DECRYPT research grant. Kindred is a charity with 3 pillars of support, one of which is childhood cancer research and clinical trials, and so our mission and goals are closely aligned.  We know that we will have a good home with them. We are proud of this decision and we believe that it will broaden our reach so we can support more families and fund more research. It is, however, a difficult decision for us, as in many ways, the foundation is an extension of our beautiful Phoebe, but just as we parent our living children, we make decisions about our sweet Phoebs and her legacy of hope.

What does this mean for you as a supporter? In many ways, nothing will change. We will still work to “make it okay” for kids with cancer and their families. We will still remain focused on our mission and quest for a cure for every child. We will still provide support to families travelling for treatment and fund research of rare and hard-to-cure childhood cancers. We will still fundraise, hold fundraising events, and have the same presence on social media where we will update about awareness and fundraising.

However, we will no longer be a registered charity, so any funds donated will be given to Kindred and Kindred will issue tax receipts. When you donate to Kindred, you can choose to direct your funds to Phoebe Rose Rocks and our programs. All funds donated will be directed to where they are needed most. Members of the Phoebe Rose Rocks Foundation board will join a committee with members of Kindred Foundation to make funding decisions.  Kindred Foundation will also continue to run the Family Support Package program.

We are excited to introduce Kindred Foundation, and the amazing work they do, to all of you. We are grateful for the opportunity to continue to honour Phoebe’s beautiful life. We miss her so very much and we know that she would be proud of the work you have helped us to accomplish. Her sweet little voice is still in my head, asking us to “make it okay”. Thank you for continuing to support us as we try. We only wish our Phoebs was here to see it.

Thank you so much for supporting Phoebe Rose Rocks and for helping us make it okay for kids with cancer
